History & Milestones
1960s
1969: GURTEC is founded as a family business in a small workshop in Bremerhaven. Company rapidly develops into one of Europe’s leading roller manufacturers.
1970s
Focus expands on rollers, pulleys, and idlers for bulk handling systems. Continuous improvements elevate product quality and production efficiency.
1976: GURTEC relocates to Schöppenstedt, Germany.
1980s
Industry pioneer: GURTEC introduces plastic-coated steel rollers and frames, setting new quality standards. A fully automated production line for GUP rollers is launched.
1990s
1990: GURTEC merges with ROXON (Finland), strengthening expertise in conveyor products, systems, and services.
1998: Sandvik acquires GURTEC and ROXON, integrating both into its Materials Handling division.
2000s
2005: Introduction of the HM140/150 flow formed and end formed roller line, raising durability and performance benchmarks.
2010s
2015: Launch of a new fully automated GST roller production line.
2017: NEPEAN acquires Sandvik’s Conveyor Components and Conveyor Systems businesses, reinstating the GURTEC, PROK, and ROXON brands under the NEPEAN banner.
2020s
2025: Major Innovation in Predictive Maintenance.
GURTEC patents and launches a thermochromic roller finish that changes color in case of bearing failure or overheating.
